Solar panel positioning recovery from open data

Below is how the visualization of LiDAR data within a building boundary, along with the solar panel projected to the ground. The figure below is interactive, please drag and zoom in/out for details. Note that the solar panel georeference can be obtained through our approach here.

I first create the roof of that building (see the interactive figure here).  After that I add the solar panel projected to the ground (see the interactive figure here). Then I project the solar panel to the roof top, and now it looks like that:

Below is how the actual building looks like from Google Maps Street View and from LINZ aerial image:

There is much data processing and algorithm involved in the whole process. I will come back and provide explanations later. Or send me an email if interested.
